Student Testers Program

1. What data do we collect?

When you sign up for the DjangoZen Student Testers program, we collect the following personal data:

  • Full name — to identify you and communicate with you
  • Email address — to send verification, approval, and testing instructions
  • Mobile number — to contact you via Signal for quick communication
  • University name — to verify your student status
  • Field of study — to understand your background
  • IP address and browser information — for security and fraud prevention

2. Why do we collect this data?

We use your data exclusively for the following purposes:

  • To verify your identity and student status
  • To communicate with you about testing assignments
  • To send you test instructions and receive your results
  • To process your compensation
  • To protect our platform against abuse and fraud

We do not use your data for marketing, advertising, or any other purpose. We do not sell or share your data with third parties.

3. How do we protect your data?

We take the following measures to keep your data safe:

  • All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Passwords are stored using secure one-way hashing (never in plain text)
  • Communication happens via privacy-focused tools: Signal, Proton Mail, and Proton Drive
  • Access to your data is limited to authorized DjangoZen team members only
  • Our server is protected with security headers, rate limiting, and intrusion prevention

4. How long do we keep your data?

We keep your data only for as long as necessary:

  • Active testers: Data is kept for the duration of your participation in the program
  • After completion: Data is deleted within 14 days after you complete your last test or indicate you no longer wish to participate
  • Rejected applications: Data is deleted within 2 days after rejection

5. Your rights (GDPR)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the following rights:

  • Right of access — You can request a copy of all data we hold about you
  • Right to rectification — You can ask us to correct any inaccurate data
  • Right to erasure — You can ask us to delete all your data at any time
  • Right to withdraw consent — You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us
  • Right to data portability — You can request your data in a machine-readable format

6. Data deletion

As stated on our program page: if you indicate that you no longer want or are able to participate in tests, your data will be immediately deleted and destroyed. This includes:

  • Your student tester profile
  • Your user account
  • All associated personal data
  • Any communication records

7. Legal basis

We process your personal data based on your explicit consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you provide by checking the privacy checkbox during sign-up. You can withdraw this consent at any time.
